Frequently Asked Questions
Below are the most common questions we get asked about the St. Johns Parade. If you can't find an answer here, we'll be glad to help you by e-mail. Reach out to us: info@stjohnsparade.org.
  • How much does it cost to register or attend?
All aspects of the parade are FREE to the community. Whether you are participating or spectating, there are no costs associated with the parade.
  • When is the deadline for parade registration?
We accept parade entries until May 1. This allows us time to contact participants and make sure everyone has all the information they need for a fun and stress-free parade day. Please visit our Entry Form page to register your group!
  • What route does the Parade follow?
The Parade begins on N Burr Ave at the corner of N Leonard St. It takes a right onto N Lombard St. and proceeds just under 1 mile through downtown St. Johns until bearing right on N New York Ave. Participants then continue to N Central St. and bear right. The Parade ends after passing by the St. Johns Community Center, at the corner of N Central St and N John Ave.

    Download our route map here.
  • What time does do registered entries need to arrive?
Parade Registration opens at 8:30 AM. All participants must check in at the registration booth at the corner of N Buchanan Ave and N Central St by 11:30 AM to receive instructions on where to stage and line up.

If you are driving a vehicle in the parade and need to check-in at the registration booth, you MUST enter the staging area by turning onto N Buchanan Ave via N Lombard St! Once you have checked in, you will proceed north on Buchanan, turn right onto N Smith St, continue until you turn right onto N Ida Ave, and then proceed to turn right onto the street where you group type is staged (vehicles + walkers on N Central St, vehicles only on N Leonard St.).

See the parade staging area map here for the location of the registration booth and where each group type should gather.
  • Where should my group gather in the staging area?
Positions in the parade are on determined based on where your group gathers in the staging area. If your group would prefer to be near the front of the line-up, we recommend having a representative arrive EARLY to save a spot where the rest of the group can meet up closer to 11:30. Please refer to the staging area map here to identify the correct street that your group should gather on based on your entry type (band, vehicle, community group, etc.).

If your group has a vehicle as part of the parade entry, please arrive EARLY as it will be easier to navigate the staging area prior to large crowds gathering. You will be able to park your vehicle in the line-up and hold a spot for your group.

If you are in a group that include both vehicles and walkers: plan to have your vehicle park on N Central St. by entering from the west via N Ida Ave and instruct your walkers to gather around it by no later than 11:30.

If you are in a group being dropped off by bus: please see the next FAQ for more details.

If you are driving a classic car or vehicle with no walkers: plan to have your vehicle park on N Leonard St. by entering from the west via N Ida Ave. Please arrive EARLY if possible as it will be easier to navigate the staging area before large pedestrian groups arrive.

  • Is there bus parking available during the parade for large groups?
Yes! See our bus route map here for instructions on where buses should drop off participants and how to proceed to the parking area.
  • What time does the Parade start?
The Parade starts at 12 PM at the corner of N Leonard St and N Burr Ave.
  • What time does the Parade end?
The Parade commences when all participants have made it through the route, typically around 2 PM.
  • Where can I park in St. Johns?
Free street parking is available throughout St. Johns! We recommend parking south of Lombard St. if you are arriving before the parade and planning the leave the neighborhood before it ends. Alternatively, there should be plenty of parking north of Smith St., which is outside of the staging area and parade route. Many street blocks around Roosevelt High School between N Lombard St and N Smith St. will be inaccessible on the day of the parade until 2 PM.

No parking is allowed in the staging area from 6 AM - 12PM and on the parade route from 6 AM - 2 PM. Towing will be enforced. In the event that your car is towed to a nearby side street without parking restrictions, please call PPB's non-emergency line to find out its location.

Parking near the St. Johns plaza will also be limited due to the St. Johns Bizarre.
  • What is the St. Johns Bizarre?
The St. Johns Bizarre is a neighborhood street festival held on the same day as the Parade. It is organized by other members of the St. Johns community and more information can be found on its website: The St. Johns Bizarre
